"Is it really possible for a soundbar to sound this good nowadays?"
That was my immediate reaction upon hearing the Bose Soundbar 700 for the first time. I have to admit, it's been quite a while since I seriously tested any soundbars—about two years, to be exact. I hadn’t been following soundbar developments much either.
So when I learned I’d get to try out the Bose Soundbar 700, I was genuinely excited. I’d been considering testing one at home anyway. Ever since I moved, the distance between my TV and the seating area has become quite large, and the built-in TV speakers simply don’t deliver quality sound in that setup.
At first, I thought, “Well, it’s Bose. The name alone guarantees good quality.” But I didn’t expect it to be this impressive. Bose Soundbar 700 completely exceeded my expectations—so much so that I wanted to buy one for myself. (If only the budget allowed! laughs)
So what exactly impressed me about the Bose Soundbar 700? Let’s take a look, point by point.
Compact, Lightweight, and Easy to Set Up
The box was huge—at first sight, I was genuinely shocked and doubted whether it could fit on my small IKEA TV shelf, which already struggles with my 55-inch screen. But once unboxed, the soundbar turned out to be much smaller and lighter than expected, fitting just perfectly.
Some may wonder why portability matters for a soundbar, but in homes with multiple rooms, users often move speakers between TVs. Many even prefer a high-quality Bluetooth speaker over a soundbar because of portability. In this case, the Bose Soundbar 700 offers the best of both worlds—mobility and superior sound.
Setup is as simple as it gets: plug in the power and you’re good to go. Bose also includes a universal remote that lets you control both the soundbar and your TV—very convenient.
In terms of input options, it covers everything: HDMI, optical, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Whatever suits your preference, the Bose Soundbar 700 has it.
Sleek and Modern
Beyond size, weight, and setup, the design deserves praise. It’s minimalistic, elegant, and premium—just what you’d expect from Bose. Once I placed it on my humble IKEA shelf, the whole area instantly looked more sophisticated.
The futuristic element doesn’t stop at aesthetics. The soundbar includes Amazon Alexa voice control, letting you issue commands without even picking up the remote. While I didn’t get the full experience due to Alexa services not yet being available in Thailand—and my own less-than-perfect accent—it’s a cutting-edge feature for supported regions.
Though the universal remote is great, I personally prefer using the Bose Music app. It’s incredibly user-friendly and allows for full control—volume, settings, EQ adjustments, and more. I found myself using the app exclusively, even for something as simple as adjusting the volume.
What really stood out is that the app also integrates Spotify, letting you stream music without switching apps. Just open Bose Music and you’re ready to go—it genuinely simplifies your music experience.
The Sound
Of course, the highlight of any soundbar review is the sound—and this is where the Bose Soundbar 700 truly shines.
The distance between my TV and the sofa is almost 4 meters, which means ordinary TV speakers struggle to deliver clear sound without cranking up the volume to near-max levels. But with the Soundbar 700, it felt like a superhero came to the rescue.
The package includes ADAPTiQ calibration headphones. Just plug them into the soundbar, wear them, and sit comfortably. The system then automatically fine-tunes the sound based on your room’s acoustics.
Another impressive detail is the angled input ports on the back, which solve the common problem of tight cable connections—something many other soundbars overlook.
Now back to the sound quality: when watching movies, the Bose Soundbar 700 delivers crystal-clear dialogue, as if there’s a dedicated center channel. The 3D spatial effect is phenomenal, despite coming from a single unit placed in front of you.
The bass deserves a special mention. Even without a subwoofer, it provides deep, satisfying lows that make action scenes punchy and immersive. And if you’re a bass enthusiast, you can fine-tune it even more via the Bose Music app.
I tested the soundbar with a variety of genres—from dialogue-heavy dramas to action-packed blockbusters and emotionally layered series—and it handled them all superbly. I’d go as far as to say it rivals separate speaker systems in a similar price range, but with much less setup hassle and space requirements.
And yes, it’s not just great for movies. When it comes to music, the Bose Soundbar 700 excels too. It delivers a surprisingly natural soundstage, akin to traditional 2-channel stereo speakers. That’s a real testament to the skill of Bose’s sound engineering team.
Conclusion
The Bose Soundbar 700 left me thoroughly impressed. From its design, technology, and connectivity to the overall sound performance—it ticks every box. If you’re looking for an all-in-one soundbar for both movies and music, with smart voice controls and easy setup, this model is a must-try.
Usually, I try to find at least one downside in a review, but in this case, the soundbar solved every issue I had. So rather than just take my word for it, I strongly encourage you to experience it for yourself—you’ll likely be just as amazed.
