Why does Bose offer the EdgeMax in both Standard and Low-Profile versions?
Although both models are part of the Bose EdgeMax family, they are designed for different installation requirements.

One of the most noticeable differences is the backcan on the rear of the speaker.

The EdgeMax Low-Profile features a 10 cm mounting depth, making it significantly slimmer than the Standard version, which has a 24.9 cm mounting depth. This makes the Low-Profile model ideal for installations where ceiling space is limited.

Another key difference is their performance specifications. Since the Low-Profile model is designed primarily to address installation constraints, its acoustic output is lower than that of the Standard model.

For example, here’s a comparison between the EdgeMax 180 and EdgeMax 180-LP:

EM180

8" Woofer
125 W Continuous / 500 W Peak
114 / 120 dB SPL
180° H × 75° V Coverage
24.9 cm Mounting Depth

EM180-LP

5.25" Woofer
32 W Continuous / 128 W Peak
106 / 112 dB SPL
180° H × 80° V Coverage
10 cm Mounting Depth

When choosing between the Standard and Low-Profile versions, the available ceiling space and installation requirements should be considered first.

Whichever model you choose, the EdgeMax family is designed to deliver high-quality sound while providing the right solution for your space.
