In today’s market saturated with Bluetooth speakers of all sizes and price points, the SOUL S-STORM caught my attention as soon as it launched in Thailand at a surprisingly affordable price of 1,590 THB. Having previously experienced the solid audio performance of SOUL’s wireless earbuds like the S-GEAR and S-FIT, I had high expectations despite its entry-level price—and I wasn’t disappointed.
Design & Build Quality
The SOUL S-STORM is a palm-sized circular speaker with a compact, lightweight form factor (only 190g). Its robust plastic body is complemented by a front metal grille featuring an embossed SOUL logo. The surrounding silicone casing improves grip and serves as a built-in bumper for shock protection.
The control buttons—Power, Play/Pause/Answer Call, Volume Up/Down—are subtly embedded for a seamless aesthetic. A built-in microphone enables hands-free calling, while the USB-C charging port is cleverly hidden beneath a secure silicone flap to maintain IP68-rated waterproof and dustproof protection. Yes, the speaker is even floatable—ideal for poolside or beach use.

The speaker automatically enters pairing mode when first turned on or when no devices are connected. You can also connect two S-STORM units for True Wireless Stereo (TWS) mode—though I was only able to test a single unit during this review.
Performance & Sound Quality
What truly sets the S-STORM apart is its sound performance. The speaker delivers clear, detailed sound with well-balanced tones and surprising bass depth for its size. The overall sound profile is clean and vibrant, making it ideal for acoustic, vocal, jazz, pop, instrumental, or even casual podcasts.
Whether played softly at your desk or cranked up for a small gathering, the speaker consistently maintains sound quality at all volume levels. There's no noticeable distortion, even at maximum output—something rare in compact speakers at this price point.
Another bonus? Sound radiates from both front and rear sides of the speaker, creating a more immersive 360-degree sound experience.
Real-World Use
During my time with it, I even used the S-STORM as a supplemental speaker for my Amazon Alexa Echo Dot, which lacks decent audio fidelity. Once connected via Bluetooth, it transformed my Echo Dot into a much more enjoyable music player—highlighting how versatile the S-STORM can be as both a portable speaker and a stationary audio enhancement.
Who Is It For?
If you’re looking for an affordable, durable, and portable speaker that doesn’t compromise on sound, the SOUL S-STORM is a no-brainer. Whether for outdoor adventures, casual home use, virtual meetings, or spontaneous get-togethers, this speaker can do it all.
The biggest takeaway? "Don’t judge its sound by its size." It’s a tiny powerhouse that far exceeds expectations.
